Last June, National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) together with Manila Rail Transport Corp., launched the EDSA Free-WiFi Project.
Users can enjoy FREE access to the public FREE WiFi with no data bandwidth for 30-minutes per device.
During the test of the NTC using the OOAKLA Speedtest last July 6 and 7, which showed the following speed:
Average Speed: 135 MBPS and 1654 MBPS
Maximum Speed: 310 MBPS (Ortigas station) 325 MBPS (Magallanes station)
In the different report from the Smart and A&A (DICT internet provider) and DoTR-MRT3 that average of 230,000-400,000 daily users connects on the FREE WiFi during peak hours.
Also on the report stated that the following MRT stations are the most number of users connected:
- Taft Avenue
- North Avenue
- Cubao
- Ayala
- Shaw Boulevard
- Boni Avenue
